The Sunday papers
A little extra something something for you this week
Hello to you, and thank you for being here. I don’t usually post on Sundays, but then I remembered how much I actually really love having some reading material for a lazy Sunday morning…so here I am. Trying a little something new!
How the devil are you? It’s still cold and still grey and, unbelievably, still wet here in the Sussex countryside. I am writing this from my deliciously cosy bed, Michael Ball’s Sunday Love Songs on the radio and a fresh cup of tea by my side, very happily ignoring all the other things on my to-do list. There’s dusting and vacuuming to do, a bathroom to clean, a pile of clothes that I’ve been meaning to upload to Vinted for at least three months. Later, James and I will wander up to the village, a bottle of wine in hand, for Sunday lunch with his parents (Neil is making his famous Greek chicken).
In other news, I got the most perfect milky manicure yesterday at my back-up nail salon, i.e. the one I go to when my favourite place is closed. It was quite the eventful appointment in the end, a) because our diva Davina McCall was in there, chatting away to everyone (it’s also her local salon) and b) I was mildly tipsy, having had two glasses of wine at lunch with James before I had to rush off for my appointment. Thank god for nail salons, honestly - they are the most unapologetically girly, feminine spaces, a safe haven where we gather and share stories and find solace in the total joy of being a woman. Heaven.

A few things to spark joy
LISTENING TO…Jules & Sarah The Podcast - oh, the joy of these two being BACK in our ears! If you’re in need of a little silliness and hilarity, Jules and Sarah are your people. Every Friday, wherever you get your podcasts 🎧
READING…Cosy crime novels - I have only recently discovered the unbridled joy of this genre, but having been a fan of Death in Paradise on the telly box for years and years, I’m surprised it’s taken me this long to pick up a cosy crime novel! I’m currently reading Murder in Moonlit Square by Paul Waters and it’s just wonderful.
EATING…Hot cross buns - forever my springtime obsession. I don’t want any whacky flavours, just your classic fruity HCB, lightly toasted and slathered in salted butter with a mug of tea, please & thank you.
A very happy Sunday to you! I’m off to crack on with the aforementioned to do list.
See ya next week!

Ok wait can we talk about the barn dance?? Is this real?? Are you going? I’m trying to roundup friends for a night of line dancing in a New England barn where I live and this is giving me big time design inspo 🎨
Oh you’re making me want to go to a nail salon! I haven’t had my nails done in ages. And heck yes to hot cross buns!
