I am writing this directly from the Substack app on my phone, which means that the mobile editor has finally launched. YAY 🥳
Substack is fast becoming one of my favourite social apps ever, and nowadays, I usually find myself scrolling through Notes from my fellow writers as I sip my coffee as opposed to scrolling through Instagram. It’s the social network we never knew we needed - designed to nourish rather than deplete, to celebrate creativity and difference rather than manufacture trends. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good trend, but there’s something so satisfying about the supportive, inviting community that I get to be a part of here on Substack. Like being enveloped in a warm blanket on a cold day, I find myself taking more creative risks on this platform because I feel safe here.
Here’s to short and sweet posts written hurriedly on our phones while waiting for a bus or a train or a cab. Here’s to nurturing our writing practice anywhere and everywhere. Here’s to the magic of turning an idea or an observation or a particularly intriguing tree into words on a screen that might connect deeply with a stranger. This is why we write, and I for one am thrilled to be a writer here ❤️
The fact that you wrote and published this 15 minutes after the update was announced - bravo, Lauren! Oh, to have your vim and ideas!
Omg didn’t know this had happened!!! Need to investigate immediately 👀
